“OK, soccer - after 4 decades of talk, here’s your chance to finally make a...”
– sportsguy33 Bill, I couldn’t agree with you more.  I’ve heard the comparisons to the Miracle on Ice.  Not buying it.  So much money has been put into U.S.A. soccer, and yet it still carries less weight in the American sports world than an NCAA Men’s basketball Christmas tournament...

– This quote was found at www.textsfromlastnight.com (Funniest website around!) I don’t drink much wine, because it makes me extremely amorous.  So, this might be a curious/dubious moment into my state of mind. At the post-golf tournament party on Friday, they gave away raffle prizes.  Most of...

R.I.P. Neda
The sadness surrounding ‘Neda’s death’ is too much for me to understand.  While reading and discussing Reading Lolita In Tehran, Nazir Afisi is reminded by her students that writing is suppose to be empathetic.  That she needs to be empathize her younger, female, Iranian students’ situation.  Not being able to dutifully position myself to teach the Iranian peoples’...

Regina Spektor - “Laughing With” Spektor’s new record comes out next week (6/23/09).  I would expect a steady progression of intricate piano pieces and delicate vocals, not to make that seem small.  I should say, I hope she delivers her usually high class work, full of intricate piano melodies and delicate vocals.

Cubs fans, this was tough to watch.  All the venom that was directed at Milton Bradley this weekend wass for this culmination of his lackadaisical play.

Verisimilitude.  Yes.  That is the right word. Thanks to TheBigLead for tweeting this video.  How many people do you think read the 53-page report about E-15?

The Thermals - “Returning to the Fold” Just a good rocker.  The tone of his vocal goes from a sermon to a plea.  Quite simply, this song is like a confessional with power chords.  Faith and regrets must be a difficult balance for those so inclined.  The rest of the performance is on Pitchfork, it’s good.

Empire Of The Sun - “Walking On A Dream” This song has been out for awhile; I miss a few here and there.  A few weeks ago, we used the idea of a continuum to define where someone falls comparatively.  I think this band falls somewhere in-between MGMT-Phoenix on the fun meter; but they don’t crack the Passion Pit-Animal Collective cred meter. Big day.  Decisions are being made...
